Women often just get pregnant. The idea of planning a pregnancy is nonexistent. Other women actually decide, now is time to get pregnant. Often couples decide it is time to start a family based on their finances, jobs, and living situation. I frequently meet couples who decide it's time to have children based on everything outside the woman’s body.
I once had a 4-month pregnant couple come to see me. She had 2 herniated lumbar discs and 2 cervical herniations. She was in agony. I asked her of she had these problems before she got pregnant. She answered, “yes” due to all the hours she sits at her desk as a computer tech person developing software. I asked her if she had done anything to try and fix this before she got pregnant and her answer was negative. As a couple, they decided they were ready without taking her body’s readiness into consideration. Needless to say, she had a horrible pregnancy due to problems that were pre-existing. After spending the afternoon during one of my advanced trainings with my practitioners she felt much better. I told her to come into my studio once a month during the next 5 months. She didn’t come and then suddenly in the last month she was desperate to come back. After the pregnancy, she was basically incapacitated and finally came back to see us once the c-section had healed.
What’s wrong with this picture? When you decide you are ready to get pregnant the first thing you have to do is check in with your body. All the areas of your body that you know are weak or more vulnerable or have had injuries, need to be worked on and improved. If you have a habit of eating junk food or foods that you know are not good for you, you need to work on this so your nutrition is good before you get pregnant. You need to work on your feet and develop a great foot care program so you have a strong foundation. You cannot work on your feet the first 3-4 months of your pregnancy so get them in shape before. The feet and ankles tend to swell in the last trimester so get them working well before you even think about getting pregnant.
Having a healthy pregnancy is not due to luck. It is due to how healthy your body is before you decide to get pregnant, so get started on this now.
